DTA Exclusive Interview Series: Five for Five With the CTO of Fave
July 16, 2021 Blog

The CxO Five for Five is Disruptive Tech Asean’s (DTA) exclusive interview series where we get Chief Executives from around the ASEAN region to answer rapid-fire questions on everything technology-related.

For this CxO Five for Five, we invited Arzumy MD, Chief Technology Officer at Fave Group, one of Southeast Asia’s leading fintech platforms, providing a smart payment app for the smart generation of consumers to pay and save.

As the CTO, Arzumy focuses on delivering product strategies to impact businesses across the region. With over 14 years of experience, he’s interested in the business of growing people, building a great product and scaling up technical solutions. Here are Arzumy’s takes on the questions:

  1. (Crystal Ball) – What is the top technology that you think will transform your business in the coming years?

As we are growing, so does the complexity of our data sets. I’ve been monitoring progress in the data mesh architecture and have high hopes for LinkedIn’s DataHub metadata platform.

  1. (Out to Pasture) – What technology do you think will phase out of your business?

We are actively phasing out single-purpose servers with containerised applications.

  1. (Chatter Box) – What is the best collaboration tool?

There’s no one best collaboration tool; at Fave, each team might use different tools that make sense for the nature of their work. However, if you want me to choose what can work for the entire organisation, Google Workspace would be it.

  1. (Be Safe) – What is the biggest cybersecurity concern?

The weakest link is between the computer and the chair. Users will always be a wildcard and that’s one thing we can never fully control.

  1. (When I Grow Up) – If you hadn’t gone into tech, what would you do instead?

Fantasy author; of magic and science.
